Кэри выиграла суд с братом
According to Rolling Stone, the American singer Mariah Carey has won a long-running legal battle with her brother Morgan.
Morgan accused the artist of defamation in her autobiographical book «The Meaning of Mariah Carey», which was released in 2020. The Supreme Court of New York dismissed the plaintiff's claims, who sought $20 million for damage to his reputation.
The court ruled that the plaintiff had not provided any evidence that Mariah made such statements knowing them to be false or with disregard for the truth. The judge also stated that there was no reason to believe that Mariah had malicious intent when writing her memoirs.
In the book, the singer described her brother as a violent person, accusing him of involvement in drug trafficking and describing his aggressive behavior. Previously, it became known that Mariah Carey would receive $92,000 in compensation in the case of plagiarism.
This concerns one of the main hits performed by the artist — «All I Want for Christmas Is You».
