According to the General Social Survey, one in three men and one in five women in the USA have not had sexual intercourse in the past year, as reported by the New York Post.
Neurobiologist Debra Soh suggests that Americans have stopped having sex due to social networks. She believes that social networks have instilled in men the belief that they can attract the attention of real stars with millions of subscribers.
Meanwhile, women, according to her, have been convinced that only those who are over 180 centimeters tall and astronomically wealthy are worthy of attention. «I've seen it all», a stripper who once shined in clubs now entertains elderly women and does not regret it.
Soh also links this trend to the popularity of dating apps and the availability of porn. She predicts that the situation will worsen as AI companions become more widespread.
«In some cases, they are already quite realistic,» she warned. «I can see how in the future many will say: why not just get an AI companion?
And over time, perhaps they will prefer it to a real person». Earlier, a former US teacher who gave up teaching for a career in porn stated that she was disappointed with this choice.
She said that she had become an absolute outcast.
