Sony Pictures Entertainment сокращает персонал
Sony Pictures Entertainment intends to lay off hundreds of employees in various departments around the world in the coming months, according to Variety.
The company, which employs over 12,000 people, is reducing its staff as part of a reorganization and cost-cutting effort. The layoffs will affect the divisions responsible for game shows and non-fiction television.
Colin Davis, the executive vice president for comedy project development, will also be among those affected. In an internal memo, the company explained: "We are reducing staff in some areas while increasing our focus and investment in others that are most important for our future.
" Sources close to the decision-making process say that the cuts are not just about "reducing costs," but are a "deliberate and strategic" choice to invest in growth in several key areas: franchise development strategy and brand expansion. "This requires changes in our structure and where we invest," the company added.
"This means that some of our colleagues will leave the company. These are difficult decisions," emphasized Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Ravi Ahuj.
As previously reported by the Financial Times (FT), major American companies will cut 52,000 jobs in an attempt to cool the labor market through mass layoffs. Companies from Amazon to UPS are reducing their workforce.
According to some analysts, jobs continue to be cut to reverse the hiring boom caused by the pandemic.
